EC stands for Electronically Commutated and refers to the type of technology used in the design of these high efficiency fans. The motor used is a permanent magnet brushless DC type and the on-board PWM controller uses high speed switching instead of brushes to power the fan.
Available as both Axial and Centrifugal types
LS centrifugal type can be forward or backward curved to suit the application required
Widely used in the commercial HVAC market

The fan/motor/speed controller is contained within one package and supplied with 230V, 1-phase and neutral and has a lower power consumption than an equivalent AC-motor driven fan for the same flow or pressure output.
Audible noise is also reduced across the working speed range which can be an advantage in many public area installations.
